- Around 369,081 people experiencing homelessness in households without children, around 67 of the total homeless population
- 48% of individuals staying in unsheltered and unsafe locations
- More than 7 out of 10 homeless individuals are men (71%) and around 29% are woman
- 19% of homeless individuals identify as Hispanic or Latino
- Much more likely to be staying in unsheltered locations
- Around 52% of homeless individuals are white while around 39% of homeless individuals are black
- Homeless individuals increased by 4% (13,869 more individuals)
- Increase in number of unsheltered individuals (12% rise)
- Number of children (under 18) who are homeless individuals increased by about 997 children
- Number of homeless individuals aged 18-24 increased by 4,179 people
- Number of homeless individuals over 24 increased by 8,693 people
- Throughout all age groups, less and less homeless individuals are receiving shelter as the unsheltered population rises and the sheltered homeless population declines
- There were 5% more women experiencing homeless as individuals from 2016 to 2017
- 3% more men and 11% more unsheltered men
- Individual homelessness has decreased by 11% (43,619 people)
