The family life skills program helps in many areas. One thing they do is have tutors to help elementary, middle, and high schoolers succeed in school. Another thing is teens and moms participate in a life skills class. The teens focus on career exploration, money values, self expression through art, soft skills for life success, strengthening peer relationships, diversity sensitivity, self- defense, and stress management. The mother's focus on personal finance, parenting values, organizational skills, relationship skills, health, and wellness.
Empowerment Program
When the family joins the Drake House, mothers instantly participate in the empowerment program. With the family assessment manager the mother works to form a goal plan. From then on the mother has weekly meetings to work towards their goals and review the 30 day action plan that was created.
Advocate Program
Mothers and Middle school ages children are matched up with an advocate to guide the family through their stay. The advocates can help by gathering clothing or other materials for the family. The advocate also serves as somebody that can be a friend to the family in general.
Career Counseling
A career coach will meet with all mothers that are unemployed or underemployed. The career coach will help with resume development, interviewing skills, and clothing for jobs/interviews.
